| Steps to Registration and Certification of Homestays in Sabah All homestays in Sabah must be registered and certified with the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism (MOT). The certification process can only be attained after first registering an application with the Sabah Ministry of Tourism Culture and Environment. After registering an application, inspections are carried out of all homestay households, by the appointed inspection committee. The inspection committee is made up of tourism industry representatives, government officials, and Sabah Homestay Association committee members. If the homestay meets all requirements and conditions, the application will be endorsed by the inspection committee and forwarded to the Federal Ministry of Tourism (MOT) for the final certification process. All certified homestay households will be given a certificate of accreditation from the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism. |

| Steps to Registration with Sabah Homestay Association It is compulsory that all registered Homestay Programs in Sabah must also register their membership with the Sabah Homestay Association. The Sabah Homestay Association is an industry association that represents all the homestays throughout Sabah at the Government policy and planning levels. Registration with the Sabah Homestay Association simply requires filling in the homestay registration form and paying the annual membership fees.
