| About Us to Homestay is living with a local host family in their HOME Centrally organised our Homestay Program is organised and operated by KOPEL our Community Ecotourism & Conservation Cooperative Office our Cooperative has an OFFICE in our village (Kg Mengaris), and is located under the Kinabatangan River Bridge, on the main road from Sandakan to Lahad Datu Established in the year 2000 For more than 7 years. About Our Guests We cater for visitors with a keen interest to contribute to sustainable conservation and socio-economic development in the Lower Kinabatangan, or those willing to learn about this... We are not a main stream tourist attraction or a cheap hang-out activity for budget travellers Our Conservation Initiatives Through our community conservation program we also carry out wetland restoration work in the surrounding floodplain forests of the Lower Kinabatangan. The work is both on wildlife forest habitat restoration and the restoration of lakes degraded by infestations of the alien water weed (Salvinia molesta) We specialise in Volunteer Work Projects Student & Edu Programs & Projects |

HOMESTAY RATES The homestay experience costs RM65/night/person (includes 3 meals B/L/D, and village transfers) RIVER BOAT SERVICES We also organise wildlife observation river cruises (2hrs sunset cruise / 2 hrs sunrise cruise) to observe famous primates and hornbills of the Kinabatangan. Wildlife Observation Cruise RM35/person (Includes guide) Return Forest Restoration & Lake trip RM45.00/person Return Cave Exploration trip RM51.00/person Inter Village River Transfers RM70.00-150/person (depending on distance) (min 6 persons) LOCAL NATURE GUIDES Our local naturalist guides are on hand to interpret more than 7 different local rainforest types and habitats, more than 200 bird species including 9 hornbill species and other rare and spectacular birds.
